About Unknot Words
By Unknot Words · Last updated
Unknot Words is a free collection of word game helpers, run by Unknot Words. It exists to make word puzzles less frustrating and more educational: instead of just giving an answer, every solver shows the full set of possibilities, so you can see the words you missed and learn from them.
What you can do here
- Scrabble Word Finder: find words that fit your board by giving the letters available for each part of the word.
- Word Unscrambler: turn a jumble of letters, including blank tiles, into every valid word.
- Wordle Solver: enter your green, yellow and grey tiles to see every word that still fits.
- Spelling Bee Solver: list every word in a seven-letter hive, with the pangrams highlighted and the points totalled.
- Guides: strategy and background articles on Scrabble, anagrams, Wordle and word games in the classroom.
Where the words come from
Every search runs against a complete, official tournament word list, which you choose with the dictionary selector:
- US — NASPA Word List 2023 (NWL2023), the official list for Scrabble clubs and tournaments in the United States and Canada (196,601 words).
- UK — Collins Scrabble Words 2024 (CSW24), used in the UK and most international competitions (280,887 words).
Because these are competition lists, they include rare, archaic and regional words alongside everyday vocabulary. Our guide NWL vs CSW explains the differences.
How the solvers work
When you search, your letters are sent to our server, which checks them against the selected word list and returns every match, usually in a fraction of a second. The rules are applied exactly: letter counts are respected, blank tiles match any single letter, Wordle clues are checked position by position, and Spelling Bee words must include the center letter. Nothing is guessed or generated, so results are the same every time for the same input.
Who it's for
Scrabble and Words with Friends players checking a play or studying after a game; puzzle fans stuck on a jumble, today's Wordle or the Spelling Bee pangram; students practising spelling and vocabulary; and teachers building word activities for their classes.
Fair play
Please respect the rules of the game you are playing. Most competitive and online games do not allow word finders during play. We built Unknot Words for learning, practice, settling disputes and solo puzzles.
Independence
Unknot Words is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hasbro, Mattel, NASPA, Collins, WESPA or The New York Times Company. The site is free to use and is supported by advertising.
